Tirana, 10 May 2023: Wizz Air, Albania's largest airline and the world's most environmentally sustainable airline*, today announces further expansion from Albania, assigning yet another aircraft to its base in Tirana. The state-of-the-art A321neo will increase the airline's capacity and provide a boost to the local economy. This new arrival is enabling the launch of two unique direct lines to Bremen and Valencia, starting from winter 2023, as well as increasing the frequency to ten lines. Another unique route to Thessaloniki will start in August 2023. Tickets are now available on wizzair.com or the Wizz Air mobile app.
The arrival of another plane in Tirana will increase the base of Wizz Air to 11 planes. Starting from the winter season of 2023, passengers will be able to fly with Wizz Air from Tirana to Bremen (Germany) and Valencia (Spain). In addition, the additional capacity allows Wizz Air to increase the frequency of flights from its base in Tirana to Milan Malpensa, Bari, Venice Treviso, Turin, Ancona (Italy), Brussels Charleroi (Belgium), Athens (Greece), Paris Beauvais , Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (France) and Baden-Baden (Germany).
In addition to this expansion, the company has launched another line from Tirana to Thessaloniki (Greece), which will be available to passengers from August 14, 2023. The line will be operated four times a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with rates starting at 19.99 EURO.
This move brings the total number of airlines from Albania to 56, including three newly announced new ones. The decision to assign the new aircraft to Tirana is part of the airline's ongoing commitment to expand its flights in Albania. Serving as an important investment in the local economy, this new arrival will create dozens of new direct and indirect jobs in the country, including positions for pilots, cabin crew and ground transportation staff, in addition to over 300 people employed now directly from Wizz Air in Albania. Furthermore, the increased capacity is expected to attract more visitors to Albania, boosting tourism and creating new business opportunities for local companies.
