One of the biggest world’s aviation group Lufthansa Group has transported 303,721 passengers from March 2020 until October 2021 to and from Tirana International Airport since the aviation had a breakdown from the pandemic crises. This successful number comes from Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Edelweiss and SWISS, part of Lufthansa Group, providing major hub airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich, thereby offering onward connections to Albania to the whole world.

To mark the occasion of the excellent cooperation between Tirana International Airport and Lufthansa Group during the difficult period from March 2020 marked by flight restrictions due to COVID-19 in the aviation business, a joint press conference “Best partners in challenging times” is organized in the premises of Tirana International Airport.

Despite the pandemic times during 2020-2021, some milestones have been signed between Lufthansa Group and TIA: 

·      Austrian Airlines was the 1st one to restart flights to Tirana 15th of June 2020 after a 3 months’ full lock-down and has from then on served stable flight connections during all the pandemic period.

·      In 2021, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines have increased by 50 percent the capacity offered with more frequencies to and from Vienna and Frankfurt.

·      In 2021 Lufthansa also introduced a nonstop connection to Munich.

·      Latest entrant was SWISS, commencing a service to Zurich last September 2021.

·      Lufthansa Group is serving Tirana with three carriers to the four hubs Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich.

Customers in Albania can book all 34 weekly connections via the airlines websites or in many travel agencies. Ticket prices for a return flight start at 106.21 €, ALL. The route network is almost fully resumed, also to the USA with 19 destinations all with just one stop via the hubs.
